Dutch Consumer Connected 2013

The report 'Dutch Consumer Connected 2013' is based on the Telecompaper Consumer Panel, an online survey conducted in the the months March to May of 2013 among almost 15,000 consumers aged 12-80. Results are CBS stratified for education, age and gender.
 

The report offers findings on broadband usage and interest among consumers, split by household income, age group and broadband technologies. The following topics were queried:

  • Current internet connection
  • The most important aspect of a broadband connection;
  • Need for connection with download speed of 50+/ 100+/ 200+ Mbps;
  • Which technology will most likely satisfy the need for 50+/100+/200+ Mbps;
  • Statements about fibre
  • Current upload speed;
  • Need for connection with upload speed of 50+ Mbps;

Netherlands leads Europe for broadband uptake - EC

The Netherlands took first place in Europe for broadband uptake and second for next generation access, according to a study from the European Commission, looking at the progress made on the Digital Agenda. And although it is not yet widely available in the Netherlands, the uptake of mobile broadband is higher than the European average. At the end of 2012, almost all homes (over 99.95%) had access to broadband, compared to an EU average of 95.5 percent. Next Generation Access, with speeds of at least 30 Mbps

Almost half Dutch consumers have, want 50+ Mbps broadband

Almost half of Dutch consumers either already have or think they will soon need a broadband connection of 50Mbps or more. This is up from just over a quarter a year ago, according to research by Telecompaper. The increase is mainly caused by more people having a 50 Mbps connection, after some providers increased download speeds in the past year.
