KPN blames Digitenne price increase on fewer customers

KPN said its earlier announced price increase for the Digitenne DTT service is due to a falling number of subscribers for the service. In a message to customers, the operator said more and more subscribers are switching to its multi-play plans with IPTV. Digitenne is planned to increase in price to EUR 14 per month from 28 June, from EUR 12.50 currently. According to Telecompaper figures, Digiteene has gone from around 850,000 customers and a monthly price of EUR 8.50 in early 2010 to just 478,000 customers

KPN takes aggregator role with KPN Play service

KPN is testing an OTT app called KPN Play. The app is expected to offer customers access to a wide range of content, including a number of live channels, catch-up TV and video-on-demand. The latter will likely be provided by its partner Videoland (RTL). Furthermore, the service will be available not only on the home Wi-Fi network, but anywhere in the country and even with other broadband providers. Pricing has not yet been announced.

Nederlandse tv-markt naar 7,76 mln aansluitingen in 2014

De Nederlandse tv-markt is in het vierde kwartaal van 2014 met 20.000 aansluitingen gegroeid tot 7,76 miljoen. Dat blijkt uit het kwartaalrapport van onderzoeksbureau Telecompaper over de Nederlandse tv-markt. Consumenten tv-diensten waren in het vierde kwartaal goed voor een omzet van bijna 410 miljoen euro, nipt meer dan in het voorgaande kwartaal. The Dutch TV market grew by 20,000 subscribers during the fourth quarter of 2014, to end the year with 7.76 million subscribers, according to Telecompaper's quarterly report on the Dutch TV market.
