French Mobile Operators Q1 2011
This second report from Telecompaper's research into developments in the French communication services market looks at the leading French mobile network operators: Orange France, SFR and Bouygues Telecom. It analyses first quarter 2011 results, both revenue and subscriber base, and compares the findings with results in the fourth quarter of 2010 and the first quarter of 2010. Orange France reported revenues down 4.2 percent on a comparable basis to EUR 5.4 billion in the first quarter, compared to the year-earlier period. Mobile revenues decreased 1.1 percent to EUR 2.65 billion, residential fixed service revenues were down 4.2 percent to EUR 3.11 billion. SFR revenues slip 2% to EUR 6.12 billion in first half

French mobile and broadband operator SFR reported revenues down 2 percent to EUR 6.12 billion in the first half, including mobile revenues down 3.9 percent to EUR 4.26 billion and broadband internet and fixed revenues up 1.3 percent to EUR 2 billion, before elimination of intersegment operations. Bouygues Telecom raises H1 sales 5% to EUR 2.87 bln

French mobile and broadband operator Bouygues Telecom reported sales up 5 percent to EUR 2.87 billion in the first half, including network-only sales up 3 percent to EUR 2.58 billion. EBITDA declined by 9 percent to EUR 665 million, and net profit fell by 19 percent to EUR 213 million. Orange France Q2 revenues slip 2.2% to EUR 5.68 bln

Orange France reported EUR 5.68 billion of revenues in the second quarter, down 2.2 percent on the year-earlier period, as an increase in mobile operations did not offset a decline in fixed services. Excluding a EUR 99 million impact from regulatory measures, Orange France's revenues were 0.5 percent lower than in the second quarter of 2010. Bouygues to launch B&You mobile brand, VoIP for youth market

French mobile and broadband operator Bouygues Telecom announced plans to launch a new brand under which it will offer mobile services to young consumers. From 18 July B&You will serve the "internet generation", used to going online to find answers, on forums to exchange ideas, and capable of setting their handset's parameters "nearly as quickly as a professional".
