SFR earnings, revenues fall in Q4 and full year 2011

French mobile and broadband operator SFR had an EBITA down 19.8 percent to EUR 393 million on revenues down 4.8 percent to EUR 3.05 billion of revenues in the fourth quarter of 2011, compared to the year-earlier period. For the full year, revenues contracted by 3.1 percent to EUR 12.18 billion, under the effect of new VAT rules and lower regulated mobile termination prices. Bouygues Telecom adds customers but sales, profits slump

French mobile and broadband operator Bouygues Telecom added 396,000 new mobile customers in 2011, taking the total customer base to 11.3 million. The proportion of mobile plan customers grew by 1.7 points to 80.6 percent. The MVNO customer base increased to an estimated 1.6 million at the end of the year. Bouygues Telecom's revenues grew by 2 percent to EUR 5.74 billion, with EBITDA down 7 percent to EUR 1.27 billion due to a regulated cut in mobile termination rates. Orange France revenues fall to EUR 5.66 bln in Q4

Orange France reported revenues down 3.7 percent to EUR 5.66 billion in the fourth quarter of 2011, including personal communication services down 0.1 percent to EUR 2.78 billion and home communication services down 4.6 percent to EUR 3.22 billion. Excluding MVNO customers, Orange France had 27.09 million mobile subscribers at the end of December 2011, compared to 26.59 million at the end of September. SFR intros EUR 43/mo unlimited international call plan

French mobile operator SFR has launched special edition subscriptions and updated its prepaid offer. It introduced 'Edition Speciale Formule Carree Absolu International', starting at EUR 43 a month, its first subscription that includes calls to 100 international destinations and Sim card to use the internet on their tablet. French mobile service prices falling by over 3.4%/y - Arcep

Mobile service prices in France probably fell faster in 2011 than in 2010, when they came down by 3.4 percent in 2010, driven by the broad take up of abundance offers, according to Jean-Ludovic Silicani, chairman of telecom regulator Arcep. Les Echos reports that between 2006 and 2010, prices fell by 2.9 percent annually, on average. Data traffic grew by 13 percent in 2010.

Bouygues Telecom sells second-hand phones through Recommerce

French mobile operator Bouygues Telecom has started offering second-hand smartphones sold by Recommerce Solutions at up to 50 percent discounts on their regular sales price when sold without a subscription. The iPhones, BlackBerrys, Samsung Galaxys and other models are fully reconditioned, wiped of data, tested and sold with their original accessories. They are guaranteed for three months, with a replacement handset dispatched in case of malfunction. Postage is free until the middle of January.
