Simpel to become part of T-Mobile from December after green-light from ACM

T-Mobile Netherlands announced it's received clearance from the regulator ACM to acquire MVNO Simpel. As a result, Simpel will become part of the company from 01 December. It will continue to operate as an independent brand, with no change for customers or staff.

Summary: T-Mobile Netherlands has agreed to acquire the country's biggest MVNO, Simpel. This gives the company around 1 million extra customers, who already use the T-Mobile network under Simpel's wholesale network deal.

T-Mobile Netherlands to acquire MVNO Simpel

Simpel was started in 2007 by CEO Jasper de Rooij and has been using the T-Mobile NL network since 2014. Focused on the low-cost, 'no-frills' market segment, Simpel sells Sim-only subscriptions through its own website. It has around 1 million customers, making it the largest MVNO in the Netherlands, and employs 20 people. De Rooij said previously that he expects Simpel to generate over EUR 30 million in EBITDA this year.

Simpel wordt onderdeel van T-Mobile Nederland

T-Mobile Nederland heeft haar voornemen bekendgemaakt om sim-onlyaanbieder Simpel toe te voegen aan het bedrijf. Partijen hebben hierover vandaag overeenstemming bereikt en de handtekening onder de koopovereenkomst gezet. De overname moet worden getoetst door de Autoriteit Consument en Markt (ACM).

Simpel sees EBITDA growing to over EUR 30 mln in 2020

Dutch MVNO Simpel expects to grow EBITDA to over EUR 30 million this year, shareholder Jasper de Rooij said in an interview with the Financieele Dagblad. Last year the company generated EBITDA of EUR 23 million on revenues of EUR 114 million, with a staff of 23 people. Churn at the operator is less than 1 percent.
