Company Profile Broadband Netherlands 30 AUG 2007
Tiscali Netherlands
On 15 September 2006 KPN agreed to acquire Tiscali Netherlands for EUR 255 million cash. For the Tiscali group the disposal of Tiscali Netherlands will generate a capital gain of EUR 180 million. The acquisition was exhaustively investigated by the Dutch competition watchdog NMA and approved on 24 May 2007. The competition authority was worried about the possible monopolistic consequences. It decided that KPN will not gain a too controlling market position and will not limit competition from cable companies and remaining competing ADSL operators Orange, Tele2, and Telecom Italia subsidiary BBned. On 19 June 2007, KPN completed the takeover of Tiscali's Dutch activities for EUR 236 million. The takeover price is EUR 19 million less than when the deal was first announced in September 2006 due to changes in the activities' debt and working capital position. Robin Clements was appointed managing director replacing Luca Scano. This is the last company profile made about Tiscali Netherlands.
