XS4ALL, Zeelandnet at top of Consumentenbond Monitor

Members of Dutch consumer organisation Consumentenbond found Zeelandnet and XS4ALL to be the best providers of the Netherlands, according to October's Provider Monitor. Zeelandnet and Xs4all were tied at the top of the latest ISP monitor by the Dutch consumers union. Both ISPs achieved a score of 7.8. Alice was ranked third, followed by Tele2 and Ziggo.

XS4ALL against closing sites for music, film industry

Dutch ISP XS4ALL is strongly against closing down websites at the request of the music and film industries. "We believe that the music and film industry should solve its problems using other, more innovative approaches, and that it should come out with new business models attrative to consumers," the ISP wrote to a court in The Hague in resonse to the lawsuit brought in by Dutch copyright protection group Brein against XS4ALL and Ziggo. Brein is again calling for the closure of torrent site The Pirate Bay.

XS4ALL protests cybercrime bill, calling it govt censorship

Dutch ISP XS4ALL said that the Netherlands will have to deal with government censorship on the internet if the bill intended to fight cyber crime goes through. XS4ALL offers IPv6 to all its customers

Dutch ISP XS4ALL is offering IPv6 to all its customers, after making addresses available to all subscribers, including a suitable modem and firmware version. Customers must manually turn on IPv6 in the service menu. XS4ALL said that there would be no more IPv4 addresses left over in May 2011.

XS4ALL criticises cybercrime law

Dutch ISP XS4ALL has criticised the government's proposed cybercrime bill. The legislation would see the justice ministry able to order ISPs to take down illegal material; from websites without the approval of a judge. The law also expands protection against tapping and selling on personal computer details. XS4ALL CEO Niels Huijbregts said on Business Nieuws Radio that the law raises fears of censorship.

XS4ALL launches VDSL2 packages

Dutch ISP XS4ALL is launching its VDSL2 services from 27 July. Around a quarter of customers will be able to access higher speeds over the combination FTTC and VDSL2 service. Brein loses Pirate Bay lawsuit against Ziggo

The Dutch copyright protection group Brein has lost its lawsuit against cable operator Ziggo to block access to the Pirate Bay file-sharing website. Ziggo claimed it's only an intermediary and can't be held responsible for the content on the site. The court in The Hague said a ruling for Brein would have had far-reaching consequences for Ziggo and XS4ALL, which had joined the lawsuit as an interested party. The Dutch consumers union has released the latest results of its ISP monitor, based on measurements in April and May. XS4ALL again took the number-one place in the survey, with a score of 7.8. XS4ALL offers business DSL up to 100Mbps

Dutch ISP XS4ALL is introducing a business DSL connection at up to 100Mbps, supported by 'stacking' multiple connections. The Business SDSL service offers a maximum 30Mbps, while two stacked connections offer twice the speed. The stacked connections also offer greater reliability, the ISP said. Opta rejects complaint over Telfort, XS4ALL tariffs

Dutch regulator Opta has rejected a complaint from BBned, Online and Tele2 over retail ADSL pricing at the KPN subsidiaries Telfort and XS4ALL.
