Russian operator Beeline introduced the service Favourite Numbers, offering unlimited calls to up to five telephone numbers. The offer is available for numbers registered on other Russian mobile networks, as well as Beeline lines. New customers are offered a free weekly trial of the service, after which the monthly rate is RUB 290.

Polish MNVO Mobile Vikings announced that its subscriber base has reached the milestone of 200,000. The MVNO counted its first 100,000 customers nine years ago. The MVNO launched in Poland in December 2013 and works on the Play network.

Armenian operator Ucom and the NGO SunChild started a joint project to foster environmental culture in Armenia, organising an environmental and educational event at the Urtsadzor forestry station of the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC). Ucom employees, together with specialists from the SunChild and the FPWC, planted fruit trees at the forestry station to support the restoration of mountainous landscapes and strengthen ecosystem resilience.

Quickline Project Gigabit roll-out ahead of target in S Yorkshire

Quickline Communications, UK rural broadband provider, has made full-fibre broadband available to around 9,000 premises through the South Yorkshire (Lot 20) Project Gigabit contract. Quickline was awarded the UK government-funded contract two years ago, with the roll-out now ahead of target. The contract had a target of reaching 8,049 premises by end-March 2026, with Quickline achieving this target in mid-February 2026 and extending coverage to 8,840 premises by end-March.

Slovak operator Antik has added the football channel Ballcasterz to its pay-TV lineup, reports Zive. The channel is available for subscribers using Antik TV and Antik Sat platforms from the operator. The online TV platform Lepsia.TV has also added the channel Ballcasterz to all three of its pay-TV packages.

Polish operator Polkomtel has signed a non-binding term sheet with Towerlink Poland and Cellnex Poland laying out the terms of its future cooperation with the infrastructure companies. Under the service agreement, Towerlink will continue to provide Polkomtel with services based on the telecommunications infrastructure owned by Towerlink and controlled by Cellnex (including location-access services, emission services, and transmission services).

Finnish telecoms regulator Traficom has awarded five stars to fourteen municipalities for their broadband connections this year. Service still varies greatly, especially in sparsely populated areas, but there are now only nine municipalities scoring less than two stars. The five-star municipalities are Espoo, Helsinki, Traskanda, Grankulla, Kempele, Kervo, Kotka, Lahtis, Jakobstad, Birkala, Reso, Riihimaki, Vaasa and Vantaa. MTS offers to buy back smartphones for cash

Russian operator MTS introduced Smart Cash, an offer for customers to sell back smartphones and other electronic goods purchased in shops of the operator. The maximum repayment is 70 percent of the price of the device. The option is available in all regions where MTS operates. Repayment can reach up to 70 percent after six months from acquisition, and up 50 percent starting from the 182th day after acquisition.

Gilat Satellite Networks revenue grows 20% in Q1

Gilat Satellite Networks said its revenue increased 20 percent to USD 110.5 million in the first quarter compared with USD 92 million in the same period in 2025. Adjusted EBITDA doubled to USD 15.1 million compared with USD 7.6 million, and the net income amounted to USD 5.2 million compared with a net loss of USD 6 million a year ago.

Gigabit broadband available to 89% of UK homes - Ofcom

The latest Ofcom data shows that gigabit-capable broadband (at least 1 Gbps) is available to 27.1 million households across the UK as of January 2026, equal to 89 percent of premises. This is up from 26.4 million premises (87%) a year earlier. The Connected Nations Spring Update shows that full-fibre broadband was available to 24.9 million or 82 percent of UK homes in January, up from 23.7 million six months earlier.

Data centre group Equinix, Nokia and Arteria, part of French public utility RTE (Reseau de Transport d'Electricite), have joined forces on a pilot aimed at testing cryptographic resilience against quantum threats. An Equinix customer, Arteria manages RTE's nationwide fibre- optic network spanning 25,000 km. The pilot involved the deployment, under real conditions, of a proof of concept on Arteria's infrastructure to assess the role of interconnection at Equinix in protecting critical data flows. WindTre revenues down 3% in Q1, clients stable at just under 18 mln

Italian operator WindTre, the country's second largest mobile provider in terms of customers, reported first quarter revenues of EUR 902 million, down 3 percent on the year-earlier result of EUR 928 million and 6 percent on the Q4 figure of EUR 964 million. Owner CK Hutchison attributed the revenue decline to seasonality and the migration to being a fully integrated energy provider since February via its wholly-owned subsidiary WindTre Luce e Gas Srl.

Kyivstar grows revenues 31% in Q1

Revenues of Ukrainian operator Kyivstar, a subsidiary of the Veon Group, totaled USD 323 million in the first quarter of this year, up by 26.6 percent year-on-year. The tunrover amounted to UAH 13.9 billion in the local currency, up by 31.3 percent, while EBITDA rose 28.5 percent to UAH 7.5 billion. The net profit was USD 85 million.

Tencent Q1 revenue rises 9%

Tencent first quarter total revenue rose by 9 percent year on year to CNY 196.5 billion. Operating profit was likewise up 9 percent at CNY 75.6 billion and the operating margin was largely stable at 38.5 percent and the operating profit excluding new AI products was CNY 84.4 billion, up 17 percent. Tencent's core businesses continued to grow their engagement, revenue and profit in Q1, providing the cash flow to fund its AI investments.

Canadian govt selects 44 projects for AI Compute Access Fund support

The federal Canadian government has announced CAD 66 million of support for 44 projects through the CAD 300 million AI Compute Access Fund. This will help the SMEs access the compute power needed to build and scale AI products. The selected companies are working across key areas of the economy, including energy, healthcare, life sciences, agriculture, finance, advanced manufacturing, transportation and natural resources.

Online suicide forum fined GBP 950,000 by UK regulator

UK regulator Ofcom has announced a GBP 950,000 fine for the provider of an online suicide forum, which has been linked to more than 130 deaths in the UK. The forum became the first service to be investigated by Ofcom under the Online Safety Act in 2025. Despite making changes to block UK users from accessing the site, it is still accessible to UK users without a VPN. The provider now has two weeks to comply with its legal duties to assess and mitigate the risk of UK users seeing illegal content on its platf

Inter Venezuela, the country's largest private ISP, has deployed a nationwide XGS-PON-based mobile backhaul service using Harmonic's virtualised core and fibre infrastructure, announced the US broadband technology specialist. The rollout is designed to provide a cost-efficient alternative to traditional dedicated cellular links as mobile operators in Venezuela prepare for increased network density tied to future 5G deployments.
