Sky to launch new free sports channel in UK, Ireland

Sky has announced the launch of a new sports channel called Sky Sports Mix. Launching in summer 2016, this will be available to all Sky TV customers in the UK and Ireland at no extra cost. It will give them access to a mix of live sport including football, golf from Europe and the US, international cricket and more as part of their basic subscription packages.

Customers will be able to watch regular live football from competitions including La Liga, MLS, FIFA World Cup 2018 qualifiers, as well as a select number of Premier League and Football League match. The new channel will also be used to strengthen Sky's commitment to women's sport, showing live women's golf, cricket and netball.

It will also show documentaries, sports entertainment shows and other sporting content. Sky Sports Mix will be available in the same number of Sky TV homes as Sky Sports News HQ, which has an annual reach of 17 million viewers.
