Telefonica appoints Gilperez as head of Spanish operations
Telefonica has appointed Luis Miguel Gilperez as its top executive manager in Spain, reporting directly to Jose Maria Alvarez-Pallete, CEO of Telefonica Europe. Gilperez previously served as first executive of Telefonica Brazil. Paulo Cesar Teixeira will replace Gilperez as head of Telefonica's business in Brazil. Tixeira comes from Vivo and will report to Antonio Carlos Valente, president of Telefonica in Brazil.

Telefonica Espana revamps executive team

Telefonica has restructured its executive team in Spain. Luis Miguel Gilperez, president of Telefonica Spain has rolled out an ample reorganization, reducing the number of general directors, and promoting executives who accompanied him in his recent business trip to Latin America, Cinco Dias reports. Emilio Gayo will take over the position of head of marketing and business customers. Telefonica invests over EUR 108 bln at LatAm operations

Telefonica has invested over EUR 108 billion to develop its operations in Latin America. The amount includes acquisitions and infrastructure deployments over the past 30 years, El Economista reports, citing Jose Maria Alvarez-Pallete, recently appointed president of Telefonica Europe. Alvarez-Pallete previously lead Telefonica's Latin American operations. According to Alvarez-Pallete, the Latin American business currently accounts for nearly 46 percent of the Telefonica group annual revenues.

Telefonica to launch LTE network in Spain next week - report

Telefonica Espana will officially launch its LTE network next week. The mobile broadband service will initially be available in Madrid and Barcelona, to be later expanded across the country, El Economista reports, citing anonymous company sources. According to the same sources, Telefonica has selected Huawei and ZTE for its LTE network deployment and launch. In the first phase of the project, Telefonica will offer its LTE services to large corporate customers. Pricing details will be released soon.

Telefonica revamps organizational structure

Telefonica has revamped its organisation and structure. The operator has set up a new business unit, Telefonica Digital, headquartered in London with regional offices in Madrid, Sao Paulo, Silicon Valley and certain hubs in Asia. Telefonica Digital will comprise 2,500 professionals from Telefonica's New Global Services Unit (vertical businesses), Terra, Tuenti, Jajah, Telefonica R+D and Media Networks, among others.
