Masmovil grows to over 10% of Spanish mobile market in April

A total of 590,269 mobile numbers were ported in Spain in April, some 50.8 percent more than a earlier, according to the latest figures from regulator CNMC. The number of active mobile (voice, broadband and M2M) lines rose to 52.5 million in April, up 2.7 percent year on year, with the penetration rate growing by nearly 3 percentage points to 112.8 lines per 100 inhabitants.

The Masmovil group once again led the monthly mobile portability ranking, with its Yoigo, Pepephone and LlamaYa brands gaining a total of 159,010 lines in April to reach 10.37 percent of the country’s mobile market. The country’s MVNOs also had a good month, posting combined gains of 42,860 lines to reach 8.42 percent of the market. The three main network operators posted net losses, led by Movistar (Telefonica) with a negative 30,170, followed by Orange with 28,700 lines lost and Vodafone with a negative 23,930.

A total of 700,707 mobile line numbers were ported in Spain in September 2018, a monthly record, according to the latest official figures from regulator CNMC. The figure beats the previous record of 687,974 mobile lines ported in the first month of the year, said the regulator, with the total number of active mobile (voice, broadband and M2M) lines coming in at 53.4 million on 30 September, up 2.9 percent year on year, equivalent to a penetration rate of 114 lines per 100 inhabitants.

A total of 649,745 mobile line numbers were ported in Spain in August, the second highest monthly figure of 2018, according to the latest official figures from regulator CNMC. The total number of active mobile (voice, broadband and M2M) lines rose to 53.21 million on 30 August, up 2.8 percent year on year, with mobile broadband lines climbing 4.1 percent year on year to 43.65 million, or 97.1 lines per 100 inhabitants.

Spanish mobile users ported 634,788 numbers in May, 30 percent more than in the same month a year earlier. The figure was higher than the previous three months but fell short of January's record of 687,974. Fixed line porting meanwhile totalled 198,888 lines, up 27.7 percent from a year earlier, according to the latest figures from regulator CNMC.

Masmovil preparing to phase out Happy Movil brand - report

Spanish operator Masmovil is preparing to phase out its Happy Movil brand, with the MVNO no longer accepting new activations or portability requests, reports website movilonia.com. The parent company is still offering services for existing customers and is maintaining their personal area but the Happy Movil website now redirects to that of Masmovil when a new registration is requested. The MVNO hasn't revamped its tariff portolio for nearly a year.

Spain's Yoigo revamps business portfolio

Spanish operator Yoigo has launched a new range of flexible plans targeted at mid to large-sized companies. The new plans are dubbed Team, Expert and Connect, with Team 100 offering 100GB of data to be shared with up to 20 lines for EUR 80 a month (not including VAT) while Team 200 comes with 200GB for up to 50 lines for EUR 140 a month.

Vodafone Spain announced the launch of a new international calls bundle for prepay customers called 'Mi Pais'. The tariff comes with 800 minutes of calls from Spain to national numbers and 57 international destinations in Europe, America and Asia for EUR 15. It also includes 5GB of data (7GB until 30 September).

Spain's Llamaya revamps postpay plans to match prepay offer

Spanish operator Llamaya, a Masmovil brand, has announced a revamp of its postpay plans to match the cost and conditions of its prepay offer. The company said customers can now sign up for a contract with 150 minutes of calls and 3GB of data for EUR 5, rising to EUR 10 for 7GB, EUR 15 for 12GB and EUR 20 for 20GB. Unlimited calls are available for an additional EUR 5 a month, with an extra 1GB of data available for EUR 3.50.

Telefonica has disconnected Spanish MVNO Ocean's from its fixed line networks due to an accumulation of unpaid debts dating back to 2015, reports ADSL Zone.
