Masmovil grows to over 10% of Spanish mobile market in April

A total of 590,269 mobile numbers were ported in Spain in April, some 50.8 percent more than a earlier, according to the latest figures from regulator CNMC. The number of active mobile (voice, broadband and M2M) lines rose to 52.5 million in April, up 2.7 percent year on year, with the penetration rate growing by nearly 3 percentage points to 112.8 lines per 100 inhabitants.

The Masmovil group once again led the monthly mobile portability ranking, with its Yoigo, Pepephone and LlamaYa brands gaining a total of 159,010 lines in April to reach 10.37 percent of the country’s mobile market. The country’s MVNOs also had a good month, posting combined gains of 42,860 lines to reach 8.42 percent of the market. The three main network operators posted net losses, led by Movistar (Telefonica) with a negative 30,170, followed by Orange with 28,700 lines lost and Vodafone with a negative 23,930.
