Dutch Fixed Telephony 2006
The number of VoIPsubscriptions sold in the Dutch consumer market segment reachedalmost 1.8 million at the end of 2006. The market share of digital telephony services on the Dutch consumer market approached 30 percent, leaving still 70 percent for the traditional PSTN and ISDN services. Growth in mobile-only households slowed in 2006, amounting to almost 18 percent of households at the end ofthe year. The number of DSL VoIPsubscribers almost equaled the cable network telephony subscribers. The mainnews in recent months on the VoIPdevelopment front has been the ongoing problems with KPN’sInternetPlusBellenservice, while the Fixed-Mobile Substitution (FMS) and Fixed-Mobile Convergence (FMC) services launched in Q4 seem to have sofar had little impact on the market.
