Tele2 NL mobile revenues double in Q1

Tele2 Netherlands reported first-quarter results with revenues up for the first time since Q3 2011. These rose 2.7 percent year-on-year to EUR 157 million, boosted by the operator's mobile activities, where revenue doubled to EUR 42 million. Tele2 to expand presence in the Netherlands

Tele2 Netherlands is currently working to expand its presence in the Dutch market. The company bought an 800 MHz license for 4G during the last auction, in addition to its previously acquired 2.6 GHz license. Roll-out on the new spectrum will begin after the summer. Tele2 Netherlands has mixed fourth quarter

Tele2 Netherlands had a mixed fourth quarter. The number of broadband customers continued to decline (-11%), despite connecting its first fibre customers. It now has 421,000 fixed broadband customers, less than when it took over over BBned. The mobile operators did better, with net additions growing to 55,000. On the even of building its own LTE network, Tele2 NL has a total 478,000 mobile customers. This is still only around 2 percent of the total market, MNOs and MVNOs combined.

Tele2 Netherlands reported fourth quarter revenues at EUR 154 million (-3.7% YoY). Mobile posted strong growth (+41% to EUR 33 million), but fixed broadband revenues fell 8 percent to EUR 85 million.
