Dutch broadband market grows to 5.59 mln, fuelled by cable

For the first time since 2002, Dutch cable internet operators added more new broadband customers than ADSL ISPs. The cable internet providers sold two times as many subscriptions as the ADSL providers during the fourth quarter of 2007, according to Telecompaper's quarterly report about the Dutch broadband market. Dutch VoIP connections pass 2 million mark

The Dutch consumer telephony market grew by 0.1 percent during the first quarter of 2007 to 6.017 million connections, as a continued drop in PSTN/ISDN lines was offset by a strong VoIP market. Tele2 NL files complaints against UPC and Tiscali

Tele2 Netherlands has filed a complaint with Dutch advertising watchdog Reclame Code Commissie, Tele2 said to Dow Jones Newswires. Tele2 filed complaints against competitors UPC and Tiscali. Tele2 alleges that the television commercials for internet and telephony of the two companies are misleading because the commercials do not clearly state that the advertised tariffs are promotional tariffs. OPTA approves KPN's tariff proposal for calls to UPC

Dutch telecommunications regulator OPTA has approved KPN's tariff proposals for off-net calls to customers of cable company UPC. The tariffs start at EUR 0.0192 for off-peak, local calls and go up to EUR 0.0441 for peak hour, national calls. KPN will introduce the new tariffs as soon as possible.
