Telenor Denmark said its 4G network will begin commercial operations in March, later than the original January schedule. This will be preceded by a pilot operation among selected customers and Telenor staff. Telenor said it will focus its LTE service on its existing customers, rather than on gaining new ones. Details of the service, developed in conjunction with Telia, will be released when commercial operations begin in March, it said. Once the 4G network goes live, it will cover 75 percent of the population in 192 towns across the country.
Telenor said the LTE grid is the first stage of the merger of Telenor's and Telia's Danish networks. The next will be to bring their 3G networks together, followed by their 2G ones. They will continue to operate as two separate, competing companies.
