KPN offers discount on Videoland basic plan

KPN is offering RTL's Videoland Basis streaming service at a discount for six months. This cuts the price of the ad-supported plan to EUR 3.99 from EUR 5.99. KPN customers can sign up in the MijnKPN app for Videoland.

Canal+ Netherlands drops ESPN in refresh of streaming TV plan

Canal+ has refreshed its online TV offer in the Netherlands, introducing a new cheaper plan. Named Canal+ Start, it offers 45 live TV channels and the VOD service Canal+ Films & Series for EUR 9.99 per month. The sports service ESPN Compleet is no longer part of the package, following a change in strategy at ESPN. Canal+ Start comes with an introductory offer of 50 percent off the first six months.

Sports and TVOD push Dutch TV-video market to new record in Q1

The pay-TV and video streaming market in the Netherlands grew 5.7 percent to a new record of EUR 753 million in revenues in the first quarter of 2025, with TVOD and sports packages showing the strongest growth, according to research by Telecompaper. Broadcasters, led by RTL's streaming service Videoland, acheived over EUR 100 million in sales for the first time, while the premium sports packages, driven by ESPN and Ziggo, also hit a new revenue record, of EUR 75 million.

Dutch pay-TV subscriptions down again in Q1

The decline in TV subscribers continued in the Netherlands in the first quarter of 2025. The number of consumer subscriptions dropped by 43,000 to 6.51 million at the end of March. That means a decline of 2.1 percent on an annual basis, according to the latest research by Telecompaper.
